| I've installed the newest andLinux rc6 KDE with samba. Everything went smoothly except I told it to use my full 1GB of RAM and had some trouble with that but I went into the setting text file and changed it to 512. My main problem now is that every time i try to launch anything that came with andLinux either through command line or quick launch from the toolbar, it comes up with an error saying "cannot launch "whatever": could not connect to 192.168.11.150:81" Can anybody help? |

I am running on win XP pro, sp2 and get identical message on whichever program I attempt to open.
Turned off firewall completely but to no avail.
Some assist by a moderator would be great here. |

I had the same problem. It turned out the service hadn't started properly. I was able to resolve the issue by restarting the service. Also make sure you reboot after install.
Run ipconfig in windows and try and ping the 192.168.11.x address returned in windows (for the TAP-coLinux) from the andLinux console (I used the NT console).
Also make sure (if you have multiple nics) that the IP address on your real nic isn't a 192.168.11.x IP.
Hope this helps. |

1. please wait until andLinux has completed booting. You may watch the CPU usage of colinux-daemon.exe in the task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and wait until colinux-daemon.exe because idle. Usually this just takes some seconds, but there are a few cases known, where it took up to 20 minutes on the first boot (because a file system check was performed).
2. if it still doesn't work, please login using FLTK or NT console (linked in the andLinux folder of the Windows start menu). If you don't get a login prompt (even not after pressing 'enter', andLinux has not completed booting). If you can login (as user root), you may check if you see any error messages in the terminal. Next, check if the launcher is running, i.e. if the command | Code: | | ps aux | grep launcher | show a process /usr/local/sbin/launcher.pl. If not you may want to copy the error log file into your andLinux installation folder by | Code: | | cp /var/log/messages /mnt/and/ | and then look through C:\Program Files\andLinux\messages to see if there are any strange errors.

I have the same problem of the other (I send to Joachim the log) but nothing wrong. I have closed the Windows Firewall (the port has been accepted first than I closed the Windows Firewall completly) and it still do not want to connect.
What is the next step? |

The fact that 192.168.11.1 is not reachable from andLinux implicates that (if the firewall is not the reason) there went something wrong with the configuration of the TAP-Colinux network adapter. It should have DHCP disabled and IP/subnet 192.168.11.1/255.255.255.0 assigned. You can check it in the system control panel (right click on TAP-Colinux -> properties, then properties of TCP/IP) or run the command "ipconfig /all" in the command prompt. |

I get similar errors too.
I usually manage to get it eventually running after restarting the service many times and issuing repair and other stuff to TAP-Colinux network connection. Once it starts working, it is good until the next time I boot my computer. |

Here is the result : http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/4244/linux2og7.png
How can I check in Linux if //windows../linux is really accessible? Is there a thing that I can do? I am brand new to Linux and andlinux seem to be great to learn... but I need to make it works first |

daok, which version of Windows are you running?
Usually you should have an item called "Network Connections" in either Windows Settings-menu or Control Panel. Can you access it? What all network connections are listed there and what are their statuses?
This is how it looks on my Windows XP: http://screencast.com/t/S6ebpMea |

daok, did you reboot your computer after installing andLinux? The device does not get there properly before you reboot after the installation.
If you did, then I guess you would be better try installing andLinux again. |
